There are musicians , and then there are musicians...those geniuses, prodigies...the ones who can make chills run down your spine...who push the envelope , who create music that sounds as if God himself were playing ....there are too many to mention, but one who always comes to mind, who I have been listening to repeatedly of late, is , saxophone player, Mr. John Coltrane. " A Love Supreme " is his masterwork..The great Elvin Jones on drums, McCoy Tyner on keys, and Jimmy Garrison on bass....from the opening notes, when you feel those chills, you just know it's something different..a moment where a musician , a band , just take all their talents , their brilliance, and join to create something that will last forever. These moments arent just limited to music, they happen in everyday life...it's the people we know and love , a great dinner or book...they are precious, they are gifts....appreciate them, take them in..breathe them, cherish them....adore them...be thankful. .
I saw Carlos Santana tonight, and he payed tribute to John Coltrane...he was also joined on stage by another young prodigy...Derek Trucks, the nephew of Allman Brothers drummer, Butch Trucks..there is so much great art and music to absorb in this world...pay it your own tribute!
peace
my hat is off to all those in this world who take the tame to create art and music. we are all moved by great paintings or beautiful music. I am always awed when I spend time viewing a master painting.
This week has been busy and filled with many tasks & experiences that all had to be met :)
As I moved from task to appointment to unexpected crisis to the next form and the next it seemed like I would never be finished. By Friday afternoon the crisis that started Monday with a sick mare and elevated to a life and death situation by Thursday, was resolved.I had finished with clients and office tasks until Saturday morning, and had only one appoint left on the roster, my appointment with the acupuncturist.
Dr. Zhao is in North Adams Mass, which is a bit of a hike. It was raining and I simply did not feel like getting in the car and going. Would it be better to just stay home and rest?... Rather than going into the monkey mind I used the pendulum. GO was very strong; so I did.
The session was wonderful, just what I needed. I also managed to go to the health food store and pick up some herbs for the horses.
On the way home my eye was caught by some beautiful paintings in a gallery that I have noticed and passed many times. Every time I pass it I always think o f how I would like to go in there. This time there was an empty parking spot in front of the store. I pulled in and went into the gallery. The beautiful landscape paintings went right through me lifting my spirits.
It was one of those precious moments, Frank....:)
thanks for sharing your joy in music!
