A beautiful valentine

We have had quite a storm, or maybe I should say, storms recently. Tuesday evening it snowed and iced all night dumping around 8 inches. Wed it precipitated all day long, sometimes rainy sleet, sometimes snow...but all day into the night. THIS morning lots more snow with a coating of Ice on top and underneath. My drive way looked like a skating pond after it was plowed. When I finished up work I realized that I had to go to the post office, BOY was I dragging my feet! We actually live in Hebron NY, but it has no post office so we have a Salem address. We end up being between the Argyle post office and the Salem one with Argyle being a little closer, any how I didn't feel like putting on the boots, and the hats and gloves and the coats.....(getting the whiny picture?) I ran out to start the car and brush off yet another coating of the white stuff, then came back in to collect the packages to go. Driving along the road I began to see what a beautiful day it was. The trees and bushes where coated in ice looking like delicate glass, on the way back the sun was setting casting a pink glow on the icy trees, it was so beautiful I found my self grinning, glad to be outside in such awesome beauty and enjoying my very own pink valentine view from mother nature!
Though the snow and ice has been a bit rough working outside, with all the horses and crazy things this kind of weather does to the water buckets, and frozen gate latches and such....my ride to the PO reminded me what a beautiful world we live in :)
many blessings

I enjoyed your "Heartwarming" valentine blog. I also being located in the Northeast have a difficult time finding joy at this time of year. After having shoveled 40 inches of snow in December I really don't mind if it doesn't snow again. I did however enjoy watching the panicked looking men about town trying to fulfill the requirements for Valentine's Day! Yes, sometimes I am easily amused. I woke up today to a lovely Lavender sky. There is something special about winter skies and bare tree branches. I like to watch animal behavior in winter. My dog Jupiter loves the fresh snow because he can pick up new scents which is just a blast for him. This morning I watched a squirrl break into the bag of skunk food, they are so clever and resourceful. It is a beautiful world.

first of all I am delighted that it didn't snow again toeay! We had a 50% chance. The worst of it has been the rain/snow combo. lots of snow then it rains then it freezes...but hey there is that moment when it is raining and melting snow that it floods the barn and poor stardusts's stall....she is so much better aobout it than me and Lavender. Lav gave me the task of getting the water out Wensday, it's almost insurmountable dealing with these issues in this crazy weather...I found it a great help to have the Armadillo/Antelope team on my side this week. Using Armadillo to keep out unsupportive thoughts and emotions so that I could use the "action" of antelope to get the job done...Any way it has been a cold crisp day today with sunny skies! (yay) so nice to see.
I just returned from more bird feeder filling ( yes they are realy chowing down in this cold weather) the pattern of little bird feet all over the snow is a hoot. incrediable cross hatched designs made by their feet. And the pattern of rabbit tracks from the three feeding stations is really hilarious. Rabbit tracks are so funny any way because or the way they hop every where and the pattern there 4 paws make.
I Put out some carrots today and am going down to watch them come out at sun set and get their treats! There are so many things to be grateful for, some times we just have to look for it! Pati, thanks for sharing your wintery observations!

peg

It is the small simple things that bring the most pleasure. So glad you got out to "see" them. Many wishes for more pink days - and nights:)

you are right about that Peg, the small things often bring so much pleasure, this morning while I was channeling, Frosty and Rah were so adorable "fitting" themselves on the chair with me. this is quite a funny feat as Rah is, well, rather chubby! Frosty makes a tiny little lump of curled up kitty with giant, fuzzy Rah tucked around her body, quite cute and tremendously heart warming! he always puts his big dark brown paws around her neck in hug!
I will look for my pink clouds tonight as I watch the sunset!
