I went to the movies tonight with Lavender to see "Little Miss Sunshine". It is about a fractured family, Mother, Father, Grandfather, Uncle, teen age brother and little sister. The little girl who is probably about 8 or so has won a local little girls beauty show which gives her an opportunity to go to California and compete on a higher level. Despite the fact that the plot is absurdly unreal at times---I came out of the film saying "the movie was so real". For a change it seemed like real people on the screen. There was desperation, dissapointment, bad parenting, drugs,sucicide..The heroine,Olive is the young daughter and open hearted happy child looking for the best in everything. There is a great dea of talk about loosers and winners in the movie.( the father is a motivational speaker) To me it illustrated so clearly, the words often heard from Quan Yin "It's not the form, It's how you meet it." Ultimately the charactors in the movie met the form of failure & tragedy with the grace and dignity of ordinary human beings developing wisdom not through so called successes but through dealing with their failures head on and finally with laughter...which we all shared in...Best movie I have seen in a long time..if you get a chance go see it
