Hi all & blessings, Yesterday I was standing on the top of Lavender's hill at Freya Farm. From this space you can see quite a panoramic view of the Adirondacks. The leaves on the trees are beginning to color up really beautifully.
As I was taking in all of natures beauty I spied a dragonfly. What a beauty! iridescent wings fluttering, big eyes looking at me as it popped right in front of my face. It reminded me to check in with the animal totems of the week. Something else caught my eye and I promptly forgot to "tune" in to dragonfly! Today is quite misty and rainy rather different than yesterdays weather! :)
I pulled a goddess card before I trudged out in the rain to feed Max his lunch. I really did not want to go out in the rain, muddy pasture, wet horse, chilly raw temperature and all....The goddess card was Maya-illusion..I remembered the dragonfly and tuned in. I immediately saw my "illusions" about the rainy, wet, muddy day...and a bout Max. Here I was thinking that I HAD to go feed him or he would miss his lunch and FEEL ABANDONED. By tuning in I found that he would enjoy to see me, that he would not starve nor feel abandoned. I also realized that i would enjoy to see him and that I didn't HAVE TO go feed him...I allowed myself to let go of the illusion of "I AM BURDENED BY THIS RESPONSIBILITY " and remembered that this is something I chose to do and that i like to do. I also let go of the illusion that the "RAIN WAS A PAIN" Max and I had a really good time in the barn for lunch!
How has dragonfly or alligator been treating you this week?
:)

animal totems
By MFHThe animal totems continue to insinuate themselves into my day. Since my experience with the dragonfly I have been paying attention when ever I am reminded by their presence to turn inward and ask for the "message". Sometimes the message is subtle and by digging through the layers of my consciousness, I find myself taking quite the journey. The journey it self never fails to give me a message :)
Max and I have been enjoying continued meetings during his lunch time. we have been discovering new ways to make life fun for both of us.
Max has been extremely nervous in his performance. Though he is talented, he has never seemed to have fun performing. I have been teaching him to jump. There has been some anxiety in this for me, as the horse I learned on spends time using his weight to pull out of the pattern...in short he is difficult. Max and I have both been having fun with learning this exercise. He has been really good about taking all six jumps and this has given
me the confidence to look around and develop my rhythm with him and perfect my turns instead of just 'getting through the pattern'. When I take him out of the paddock for lunch I now lead him up the hill to the jump set up and we practice before lunch. He looks forward to it and performs with eagerness... I like to think that the otter is teaching us to play and have some fun!
