Today is a bright cool day, I woke up with a headache which is not uncommon for me. At the same time I realised that while I have lots of "problems" in my life, so does everybody else.
I had been reading an artical about the conflict in Shri Lanka before retiring and I am appaled at the terriable things going on there. My problems dimmed by comparison.
This morning I thought about my "problems" next to their problems, I realized that none of them could be solved in a moment ( gee, too bad no magic wand today!). I also realized that in broading my focus to include others, some how perspective came...I have today and this moment and I can fill it with something other than worrying about my-self and my situation...I got up and took a walk before anything else the morning was so beautiful...I have some "problems" and so much to be grateful for :)

Hi S, I too was reading about Sri Lanka yesterday. My new Amnesty International magazing came and there was a photo of a childs face on the cover. the face was so old filled with the weariness of the world.
I did notice that my problems also seemed to dim in the face of what these folks deal with every day.
I also noticed some feeling of change in reading this magazine. Usually if it is difficult to read, the violence, poverty and human rights violations are beyond comperhension...It was still difficult to read of the tragic situations, yet I saw individuals being empowered. There was a story of an Congolese woman who was recovering from atrocities and taking a stand...There was courage and dignity there and so it was uplifting in a way...I feel that one step at a time one person at a time we can build a more compassionate and careing world...Perhaps we should all take a look around the globe and put out "problems" in perspective..

Thanks for reminding me to look beyond myself. I too always have a better perspective when I see beyond me....I am but a piece of a much bigger place...I am..we are. Aho
