Freya Farm

Freya Farm is located high on a hill overlooking the Adirondack Mountains of Upstate New York. Owner Lavender Halsey, a farmer by birth, hails from Watermill, NY where her father works the organic farm that has been in the Halsey family for 14 generations.

She is a firm believer in the importance of good land. Her philosophy is that if the land is happy and healthy, as the land around Freya Farm then the horses on it will be happy and healthy as well.

Lavender has worked with horses her whole life. In 1995 she met her first mini... Little Nips Breakfast At Tiffany's, a tiny filly. As the saying goes, the rest was history. She purchased her first mare at 12 years old. Though thrilled with her miniature horse, Lavender missed the interaction of riding. When she discovered minis are excellent driving horses, providing that close interaction between human and horse, she was hooked.

Dedicated to driving horses with natural action, Freya Farm is a small farm with a hands-on philosophy. That's why no more than 12 animals are stabled with us at one time. Freya horses are handled daily and get stalled nightly. We believe this makes for a better all around horse. Our horses are treated as horses, not as toys or pets: we respect them as horses, and they respect and trust us as their handlers. All of our horses are registered with AMHA and most are with AMHR also.

Take some time to look at our web page. We're sure you won't be disappointed by what you see! Freya Farm welcomes visitors by appointment, at any time!
